SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's basketball will put a four-game winning streak on the line this week with travel tests at No. 12 Gonzaga and Portland.

The Toreros are now halfway through West Coast Conference play and will meet the Zags and the Pilots for the second time this season.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros collected their fourth straight win against San Francisco, edging out the Dons 64-60. Earlier in the week, San Diego mounted a fourth quarter comeback to defeat Santa Clara, 50-47.
• Against the Dons,
Madison Pollock and
Myah Pace led the offensive efforts for San Diego with 13 points apiece. Pollock earned her second double-double of the week tacking on 10 boards to her performance. Virginia transfer
Erica Martinsen had a breakout performance off the bench contributing 11 points on the afternoon.
• Pollock pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace San Diego's offense that racked up second chance opportunities, grabbing 15 boards and turning them into 17 second chance points. The defense held San Francisco to just 39.2 percent from the field, including 15.4 percent from three-point range.
• The game saw 10 lead changes and 10 tie-ups before the final buzzer, as San Diego entered the fourth quarter with a five-point edge. The Dons tied it up with five minutes to go, but Martinsen responded quickly off a turnover to put San Diego up by one.
Leticia Soares secured the victory in the final minute with a bucket in the paint off an offensive rebound.
• Against Santa Clara, Pace and Pollock led San Diego's offense as Pollock garnered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Broncos built a 38-23 advantage after halftime before the Toreros went on an 8-0 to trim the deficit to seven with two minutes left in the third quarter.
• San Diego faced an eight-point deficit going into the fourth as Soares came up big punctuating a 9-0 run to shrink the deficit to two with six minutes remaining. USD took the lead for good when Pollock executed off an offensive rebound for an and-one opportunity.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE ACTION
• Pollock earned her third and fourth double-doubles against Santa Clara and San Francisco, marking the second time the senior guard has repeated double-double performances this season.
• The Snohomish, Wash. native has been a consistent offensive force for San Diego this season, leading the Toreros in points in eight contests. She has also led USD in rebounding in seven games this season.
• Pollock is currently averaging 11.2 points per game and 6.3 rebounds. She has started all nine conference matchups this season, averaging 31.3 minutes per game in WCC play.
• With both performances, Pollock has now exceeded her season-high double-doubles set back in 2018-19 with two.

TRENDING UPWARD - INSIDE THE STANDINGS
• After San Diego earned its fourth consecutive victory against San Francisco, the Toreros are trending upward in the West Coast Conference. The win allowed San Diego to remain tied for third in the standings with Portland and continue in the hunt for the second-place spot.
• Earning the number two spot in the WCC would be valuable come March for the conference tournament, as the one and two seed earn a triple bye and only have to win two games to capture the WCC crown.
• The Toreros are off to their best start halfway through WCC play since the 2015-16 season where San Diego earned eight wins out of its first nine conference matchups. The season ended for USD at the 2016 WNIT, where the Toreros fell to Michigan in the third round.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GONZAGA
• The Toreros will look to break an eight-game losing streak against the Zags, after Gonzaga took the matchup earlier this season inside the JCP. Gonzaga owns the all-time series at 46-23.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PORTLAND
• San Diego will look to sweep Portland for the 2019-20 regular season, after beating the Pilots 74-55 at home. The Toreros hold a 10-game advantage in the all-time series at 43-34.

THE DEFENSE
• The Toreros have limited teams to only 57.8 points per game so far this season, including 29 percent from beyond the arc. The defensive efforts have been led by junior guard
Myah Pace who has tallied 62 steals so far this season.
• Pace's takeaways rank her No. 9 among NCAA Division I in total steals on the year and No. 13 for steals per game. Pace is currently tied for second in the WCC for steals on the year behind Pacific's Valerie Higgins.
• As a team, San Diego is 18th in NCAA Division I in steals and 26th in turnovers forced. Opponents are averaging 20.8 turnovers per game against USD.
• The Toreros rank first in the WCC in turnovers forced with 189 opponent turnovers through nine contests in conference play. USD is also averaging 10.6 steals per game in the conference slate.
