Three-Game Road Stretch Begins at BYU

SAN DIEGO - The Toreros will travel to Provo, Utah on Saturday to take on BYU as a part of a three-game road stretch. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. (PT).
 
The Cougars are coming off a two-game losing streak to Portland and Gonzaga. BYU has yet to win a WCC game inside the Marriott Center with its two conference victories coming on the road at Pepperdine and LMU.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego opened home WCC play with a victory against Portland before falling to No. 17 Gonzaga.
• In the WCC home opener, Myah Pace tied her newly minted career-high with another 20-point performance against the Pilots. Senior Madison Pollock matched the junior guard's offensive production with her own 20-point performance.
• Pollock was near perfect in the contest shooting .833 from the field (10-for-12).
• Leticia Soares and Patricia Brossmann also added to the offensive efficiency for San Diego tacking on double figure performances.
• San Diego then held No. 17 Gonzaga below its season point average, but fell 57-32. The Toreros defensive effort came up short as they forced 23 turnovers in the contest while only committing 12 themselves.
• Pollock once again led the way for USD on offense for her fifth consecutive game in double figures. The senior guard recorded 11 points and four rebounds in the contest. Sydney Hunter also added 10 points for the Toreros with two assists and two steals.
• Jordyn Edwards was key at the point guard position tacking on seven assists in the contest with one block and five points.
 
LEANING ON THE STARTERS
• San Diego has relied heavily on its starting five in the past two contests with each playing over 30 minutes against No. 17 Gonzaga.
• The Toreros have begun to maintain a consistent starting rotation with Pace, Pollock, Hunter, Edwards and Brossmann. Soares has served as the sixth woman off the bench, averaging 18.9 minutes per game. Pace and Hunter have seen the most action for USD averaging 34.1 and 31.1 minutes respectively.
• The starters have combined to be San Diego's most potent scorers with Pollock and Pace averaging around 12 points per game.
• Brossmann continues to lead the Toreros off the glass with 6.4 boards per game, collecting an even 48 on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The senior forward ranks third overall in the WCC for offensive boards.
• Edwards and Pace lead the way in assists and blocks for San Diego, while Hunter has emerged as a steady force shooting .375 so far on the year and averaging 8.3 points in WCC play.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
• BYU holds advantage in the all-time series against San Diego at 14-6. The Toreros are facing a two-game losing streak and will look to win in Provo for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
• This game marks the 21st meeting between the two programs.
 
POLLOCK AND PACE
• Pollock and Pace have led the charge for San Diego, remaining the team's top two scorers.
• Both guards rank among the top 15 scorers and rebounds in the WCC during conference play. Through four conference games, Pollock is averaging 15.5 points per game while Pace is averaging 12.8. The duo also rank first and second on the team in boards with 5.8 and 6.3 per game respectively.
• On the defensive side of the ball, Myah Pace has continued to shine for San Diego. The Oakland, Calif. native has racked up 14 steals in West Coast Conference lay alone and still reigns as the conference's leader in takeaways.
• Pace also ranks in the top 10 in defensive rebounds during the conference slate, tallying 18 defensive boards over four contests.
 
DEFENSIVE MOMENTUM
• San Diego's defense has been a key to success during conference play.
• The defense has limited three WCC opponents to under 60 points. Only Pepperdine crossed the 60 point thresh-hold against USD, scoring 73.
• The Toreros have forced 82 turnovers against WCC opponents, as teams are averaging 20.5 per game against San Diego. Turnovers have turned into key opportunities on the offensive end of the floor as San Diego is averaging 17.6 points off its opponents' mistakes over the past three contests.
• San Diego is also averaging 11.3 steals per game in WCC, compared to opponents 5.0, and currently has two players with double-digit steals in conference play in Edwards and Pace.
