SAN DIEGO - The Toreros will round out nonconference play this week with a matchup at Long Beach State on Thursday at 6 p.m. (PT), before hosting UC Irvine inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Sunday.

San Diego is coming off a successful week after notching two victories in three games against Cal State Fullerton and San Diego Christian.

No fans will be allowed inside the JCP on Sunday in accordance with state and local health guidelines. Tip off is set for 4 p.m. (PT).

LAST TIME OUTÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• San Diego notched another victory against San Diego Christian, 98-56, before falling to Arizona State on the road 64-55.

• Six players scored in double figures against San Diego Christian, led by redshirt junior
Kendall Bird, who had a career-high 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Sophomore
Ayanna Khalfani also a career-high 16 points with two steals, while
Sydney Hunter chipped in as well with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

• San Diego started off hot grabbing a double-digit lead in the first off a jump shot from
Nicole Blakes with three minute remaining in the period. San Diego would never shrink from that lead and took advantage of seven turnovers in the period, turning them into eight points on the other end of the floor.

• Against Arizona State, San Diego women's basketball shot 50 percent from deep, but fell to the Sun Devils on the road. The Toreros were led by redshirt senior
Jordyn Edwards, who scored a new season-high 16 points and tacked on four steals on the afternoon. Freshman
Gabby Giuffre also had a double-digit performance with 11 points and two steals.

• Arizona State and San Diego were in a rebounding battle on Sunday, as the Toreros were out rebounded 43-36 and only able to generate nine second chance points in the contest.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LONG BEACH STATE
• San Diego enters this matchup up four games in the all-time series, 10-6. The Toreros are on a six game winning streak against the Beach after a four point victory on the road in 2018-19.

• The Toreros also hold advantage in the all-time series against the Anteaters at 16-12 and are on a two-game winning streak.

THE DEPTH OF SYDNEY HUNTER
• Senior guard
Sydney Hunter has emerged as the most well-rounded threat in San Diego's starting five.

• Hunter has led the Toreros off the glass in all four contests so far this season and is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. No other player in the starting rotation is averaging above five boards per game. She's also tied with Edwards for the most blocks on the year with three.

• The Kaizer, Ore. native is also responsible for the sole double-double in the 2020-21 season against San Diego Christian. She is also leading San Diego from the line, shooting .768 this season.

OAKRY'S RESURGENCE
•
Kiera Oakry made her first start of the 2020-21 season against Arizona State. The redshirt sophomore is returning from a season-ending injury in 2019-20 and has proved to be a pivotal part of USD's rotation. In the past two games, she's averaging 9 points and has collected six steals.

SHARP SHOOTERS
• San Diego's offense is currently outscoring opponents 279-244 with a scoring margin of +8.8 points per game. From three, the Toreros are also out shooting their opponents with 21 made threes on the year.

• Edwards has led the offensive charge averaging 11.3 points per game, followed closely by Hunter who is averaging 10 points per game.

• Beyond the two starters, San Diego's rotation has come into play to generate its offense as
Laura Erikstrup rounds out the top three shooters for USD with 8 points per game. Giuffre has also played a vital role off the bench after she recorded her first double-digit performance against ASU.

• So far this season, San Diego's offensive momentum has carried into the third and fourth quarters scoring 73 and 72 points in those quarters respectively. In every quarter, the Toreros are outscoring their opponents this season.

• San Diego's defense has continued to work in its favor, forcing 98 opponent turnovers in four games. The Toreros are also averaging 15 steals per a game with 60 total on the year.

• Forcing turnovers has helped generate success on the opposite end of the floor as the Toreros are averaging 23.3 points per game off of turnovers. Over the past three games alone, San Diego has scored at least 22 points off opponent mistakes.
