FULLERTON, Calif. --
Erica Martinsen scored a career-high on Tuesday night as San Diego (1-1) jumped out to an 18-15 first-quarter lead and did not trail from there on the way to a 70-60 victory at Cal State Fullerton (0-3).

Martinsen led the offensive attack for the Toreros with 16 points, four assists and five steals. Sophomore forward
Amanda Olinger also had a career night for USD with her first double digit performance recording 13 points off the bench.
Jordyn Edwards added six points, four assists and five steals.

San Diego shared the ball well in Tuesday's game, racking up 19 assists on 27 made field goals. Individually, sophomore
Ayanna Khalfani dished out the most for the Toreros with six on the night.

The San Diego defense caused havoc for the Titans forcing 29 turnovers. USD capitalized on mistakes turning the opportunities into 22 points on the other end of the floor. Edwards' five steals led the way individually for the Toreros.

The Toreros got off to a hot start in the first with back-to-back field goals from Martinsen and
Sydney Hunter in the first minute and a half of play. San Diego did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 10 of its 18 points close to the basket.

San Diego continued to push the Titans forcing five turnovers in the first three minutes of the second quarter. Hunter executed on a steal by freshman
Laura Erikstrup with seven and a half minutes remaining in the period to widen the gap to 26-15.

The Toreros continued to dominate in the paint, scoring 14 of their 23 points close to the basket in the second, taking a 41-25 lead into the half.

Fullerton looked to close the gap in the third, outscoring San Diego 17-10. Khalfani helped keep USD's lead nailing a three pointer from the wing with :23 seconds left on the clock. San Diego entered the fourth up by nine, 51-42.

In the fourth, the Toreros were unbeatable from beyond the arc as San Diego knocked down four threes to account for 12 of its 19 points. Martinsen was perfect from deep in the quarter, going 3-for-3. Edwards was also perfect from three hitting her only opportunity in the period.

Edwards, Martinsen and Olinger tacked on points in the final three minutes to keep San Diego's lead at double figures, securing a 70-60 victory.

The Toreros are back in action on Sunday, when they'll take on Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
