SAN DIEGO - The Toreros will face a loaded field this weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. with Friday night matchups against No. 16 Arizona State and the United States Olympic Team.

On Saturday, San Diego take on New Mexico at noon and then Bethune-Cookman at 7:30 p.m. PT.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros earned a home opener sweep of Idaho State with a 4-0 shutout victory in game one, followed by an 8-3 knockout in game two.
- Dominant pitching highlighted the first game as senior right hander Delaney Heller threw her second shutout of the year, allowing only two hits while striking out four.
- Halle Kyler, Sara Silveyra and Lauren Hendrickson came through to record the four RBIs for San Diego. Kelli Kufta also contributed offensively hitting .500 in the ballgame.
- In game two, Silveyra and Kufta continued their offensive momentum as Silveyra went 3-for-4 and Kufta went 2-for-3
- Sophia Bjerk came through in the first inning to slug a three-RBI double as San Diego jumped on the Bengals early to create a 7-0 advantage.
- Halle Kyler came into the circle for San Diego to pitch 2.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits with no walks and a strikeout.

SLUGGING SILVEYRA
- Silveyra currently leads San Diego's lineup in multiple offensive categories including batting average (.370), slugging percentage (.519), hits (10) and on base percentage (.452).
- Through 10 games, Silveyra has become one of the toughest hitters to strikeout registering no Ks on the season. This ranks her first in NCAA Division I with only 84 hitters remaining in the category.
- She is the only Torero hitter to not have a strikeout on the year with all other batters having at least one.
- In batting average, she ranks 8th in the West Coast Conference and is the only consistent starter for USD ranked among the conference's top 10.
- Silveyra has taken over in the three spot for the Toreros and went 4-for-7 against Idaho State.

OFFENSE TRENDING UPWARDS
- The double header sweep of Idaho State showed an offensive bright spot for San Diego who struggled at the plate in the Golden State Classic.
- As a team, the Toreros now rank first in the WCC with doubles on the year with 16.
- Three hitters have emerged as vital parts of the San Diego lineup with runners in scoring position. Kelli Kufta leads all hitters, batting .800 with runners in scoring position, followed by Rion Simms and Savannah Shields who are each hitting .500.
- Lauren Hendrickson has come through in the DP slot, batting .750 on the year with two outs.
- Eight Toreros have one or more two-out RBIs and almost every player has advanced runners with at least one out.

DELANEY DEALING
- The senior right hander earned another shutout on the year against Idaho State and now ranks first in the WCC in shutouts. Amongst all pitchers in Division I, Heller ranks 5th in the category.
- Heller continues to lead the pitching staff in ERA (2.97), ranking 6th in the WCC.
- Heller has elevated San Diego's pitching staff to rank 16th in NCAA Division I for shutouts.
- She also leads the conference in strikeouts with 32 on the year.

- The Toreros are currently 3-4 in neutral site contests so far in 2020.
- San Diego held its last winning record at neutral sites during the 2018 season, where the Toreros went 6-5.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS
- San Diego softball will look to break a three-game losing streak against the Sun Devils as ASU holds advantage in the all-time series at 6-1. The Toreros last victory against ASU came in 2015 when the Sun Devils were ranked No. 16 during the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe.
- The matchup versus the United State Olympic team will be an exhibition for the Toreros as Team USA is on the Stand Beside Her Tour as a part of preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
- New Mexico also holds advantage in the all-time series at 4-0.
- The Saturday night matchup against Bethune-Cookman will mark the first between the two programs.
