CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -- San Diego's offense tallied nine hits en route to a monumental 6-5 win over New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Toreros sit at 6-6 on the season.

Delaney Heller (4-4) got the win for San Diego in the circle. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits, while allowing four walks and striking out five.

Hayley Hensley led the way offensively for the Toreros, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBIs. Sophomore
Rion Simms put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-2 with a double.
Sara Silveyra continued her offensive prowess for USD, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

As a team, five different players tallied RBIs in the contest, and San Diego only struck out four times in 27 plate appearances.

Trailing 1-0 after the top of the first, the Toreros first quickly responded as Simms reached second on a line drive double to lead it off the inning. Freshman
Clareese Santiago came through in the DP slot with an RBI double in shallow right field to even the score.

The Lobos then scored two runs to re-take their advantage heading into the third inning, when the Toreros responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. San Diego scored twice on Hensley's two-run homer to left, which evened the score at 3-3.

That 3-3 tie turned into a 6-3 San Diego lead in the fourth as the Toreros put together a three-run frame, culminating in a run-scoring single from Silveyra.

The Lobos tried to rally in the top of the fifth scoring one more run before Silveyra made a clutch play deep in the hole at second to catch a runner attempting to score. Casiano was there for the throw to gun the runner out at third.

USD was able to close out the side in the top of the seventh to secure the 6-5 victory.

San Diego will close out the Mary Nutter Classic with on Saturday evening with a game against Bethune-Cookman at 7:30 p.m. (PT).
