SAN DIEGO - The Toreros (9-9) earned a Friday night sweep, beating St. John's and Brown on day two of the San Diego Classic at the USD Softball Complex.

Delaney Heller (5-7) started in the circle against the Red Storm and picked up the win for San Diego. Sophomore
Madison Earnshaw (3-1) got the win for San Diego against Brown in game two making her sixth start of the season.

GAME ONE - ST. JOHN'S
San Diego etched out a 3-1 victory against St. John's to start Friday's double header as Heller went all seven innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing only two walks and striking out two.

Sophomore
Sophia Bjerk led the way offensively for the Toreros, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a triple. Senior
Madison Casiano put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Junior
Halle Kyler also contributed, going 1-for-3 for San Diego with a double.

The Toreros trailed 1-0 in the fifth inning after the Red Storm came through with an RBI single in the third. Bjerk tripled to the right center gap to get on base before freshman
Savannah Alarcon came through in the nine hole with an RBI-single.

San Diego kept the rally going as Casiano singled to center to score Alarcon. Hensley came through on the base paths to score off an error by the catcher to make it 3-1 USD.

The Toreros held off the Red Storm for two more innings to earn the win.

GAME TWO - BROWN
The Toreros took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 6-2 win against the Bears.

Earnshaw went all seven innings in the circle, giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.

Kyler continued a stellar day at the plate in game two, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and two RBIs. Hensley provided a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Sophomore
Lauren Hendrickson also contributed, going 1-for-2 for San Diego with a double and a walk.

The Toreros got on the board immediately, starting their scoring in the bottom of the first. San Diego scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Kyler to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Bears then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Toreros expanded their advantage in the second. San Diego brought home a pair, with one run driven in off the bat of Hensley to extend the Toreros lead to 4-1.

San Diego held Brown without a run before building their lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning as
Elisa Princic scored off a passed ball.

Brown attempted to close the gap making it 5-2 headed into the bottom of the fifth. San Diego responded immediately to add another insurance run in the sixth inning as
Clareese Santiago crossed home plate off a sac bunt from Alarcon to bring the score to 6-2 USD.

The Toreros then held off the Bears in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
