SAN DIEGO - The Toreros will begin a three-game week at home as they play host to BYU on Monday at 6 p.m. (PT).

San Diego is set to travel to Pepperdine and LMU to close out its only three-game game week in the conference slate. The Toreros will look to build their momentum after splitting their first two WCC matchups.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros split the first two WCC matchups in the opening week of conference play, losing to Santa Clara before beating USF, 61-56.

• Three players reached double figures in the win over the Dons in seniors Sydney Hunter and Myah Pace and redshirt junior Kendall Bird.

• The defense lifted San Diego past the Dons as USD forced 24 turnovers in the contest, turning the takeaways into 22 points on the other end of the floor. Seven players recorded at least one steal with Erica Martinsen leading the way with four.

• The Toreros battled San Francisco through three quarters to enter the fourth with only a three-point advantage, 49-46. San Diego found its rhythm in the fourth and never trailed in the final 10 minutes, outscoring USF 12-8 in the period to secure the victory.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BYU
• San Diego will look to build off its winning streak against the Cougars, despite being down in the all-time series 7-15.

• This marks the 23rd matchup between the two programs after the inaugural meeting in 2010-11 that resulted in a BYU victory, 70-44, in Provo.

LAST SEASON AGAINST THE COUGARS
• The second matchup against BYU in the 2019-20 campaign proved pivotal, as San Diego bounced back to split the series beating the Cougars at home 51-45.

• The victory inside the JCP moved USD up in the West Coast Conference standings to second, a place they would hold to earn the triple-bye into the semifinals for the conference tournament.

STARTERS LEADING THE OFFENSE
• The Toreros offense is led by four of its starters in Edwards, Hunter, Bird and Pace. Edwards leads USD in scoring averaging 10.3 points per game and shooting .792 from the line.

• Hunter is averaging 9.4 points per game after recording her third double-digit performance against San Francisco. Bird and Pace are tied to round out San Diego's scoring, averaging 8.3 points per game.

• Of the four, Hunter leads the group in percentage shooting 47.2 percent from the field. She also leads the group in offensive and defensive rebounds with 19 and 26 boards respectively.

• The four players have combined for 10 double-figure performances as Edwards has recorded the most with four on the year.

THE ERIKSTRUP EFFECT
• Freshman center Laura Erikstrup has become a key component of San Diego's rotation, leading all nonstarters in points per game (8.1) and field goal percentage (.513)

• The Beaverton, Ore. native is averaging the second most minutes from San Diego's bench at 16 per game. She's appeared in all seven contests for the Toreros and adds size to San Diego's lineup.

STEAL CITY
• Against the Dons, seven players recorded at least one steal in the contest as Edwards recorded her 20th of the year.

• Of the seven games so far this season, the Toreros have recorded double-digit steals in five of them and is averaging 14.0 steals per game to rank fifth overall in NCAA Division I and first in the WCC.

• San Diego's defense also ranks in the top 25 nationally in steals, turnovers forced and turnover margin.

• The defensive effort has paid off on the offensive side of the ball with the Toreros ranking second in the WCC for scoring defense with 57.9 points on the year.

THE HUNT FOR THE WCC CROWN
• The Toreros will look to continue their dominance in the West Coast Conference after finishing the 2019-20 regular season ranked second in the WCC. San Diego earned the triple-bye to the WCC Tournament Semi-finals for the first time in program history to knock off Pepperdine.

• San Diego then fell to Portland 64-63 in overtime in the WCC Championship and qualified for the 2020 WNIT prior to the season's cancellation in March. The postseason appearance would have marked the eighth under head coach Cindy Fisher's tenure at USD.
