Toreros Big OT Win Over CSUN

San Diego beats CSUN 83-70 in overtime for second consecutive win

SAN DIEGOThe Toreros defeated CSUN 83-70 in overtime at the Matadome Arena on Sunday, December 5. This is San Diego's sixth win of the season and second consecutive win on the road. The Toreros played tenaciously on defense with 37 rebounds, 11 steals, and four blocks. On offense, San Diego had 18 assists and two players scored in double digits. Steph Gorman was the leading scorer in points and assists, setting career highs for both. Gorman scored 22 points and had 11 assists against CSUN.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Two players scored in double-digits: Steph Gorman scored 22 points and Sydney Hunter had 15. 
    • Hunter shot 87.5% from the free throw line, her best performance at the line this season. 
  • Gorman set a new career high of 22 points, beating her previous record of 19 points against Portland in 2018. 
    • Gorman shot 60% from the three point line, 72.7% from the field, and 75% from the free throw line. 
  • Steph Gorman set another career high of 11 assists, beating her previous record of seven assists against Idaho on November 14, 2021. 
  • The Toreros scored more points in the paint with 44 compared to CSUN's 34.
  • San Diego shot 51.7% from the field, 46.2% at the three point line, and 73.9% at the free throw line. 
    • In the fourth quarter and overtime, the Toreros shot 66.7% from the field.

  • Sydney Hunter led the Toreros in rebounds with six, followed by Ayanna Khalfani and Steph Gorman with five each.
  • Kendall Bird, Kasey Neubert, and Kylie Horstmeyer each had four rebounds.

  • Steph Gorman set two career highs in scoring and assists and tied her career high of five rebounds tonight. The last time Gorman had five rebounds was against Pepperdine on February 6, 2021.
  • This is San Diego's tenth consecutive win against CSUN. Prior to today, San Diego's most recent win over CSUN was in 2019.
