SPOKANE, Wash.—No. 18 San Diego got its fourth sweep of the season, defeating Gonzaga in straight sets on Friday afternoon in the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre.

The Toreros (7-0, 7-0 WCC) hit .360 collectively, led by
Roxie Wiblin and
Thana Fayad who both finished with a match-high 14 kills. USD tallied 11 team blocks and held the Bulldogs (2-5, 2-5 WCC) to a .126 hitting percentage on the day.

Grace Frohling added nine kills for USD and freshman
Elly Schraeder chipped in with five. Wiblin notched her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 12 digs, while
Laura Madill recorded a double-double as well with 32 assists and 10 digs, adding two aces for USD.

Schraeder led the way defensively at the net for the fifth time this season, collecting a season-high seven blocks. Frohling added five blocks and Fayad and
Lauren Turner both chipped in four blocks.

After trailing 4-2 to start the match, USD put together a 14-3 run to take a commanding lead in the first set. Fayad collected three kills and an ace in the run and tough serving from
Annie Benbow—who made her first appearance of 2021 with seven digs, two aces—kept GU out of system. The Bulldogs rallied to within four points late in the set but two kills from Wiblin and an ace from Madill closed out the first frame 25-19.

It was a back-and-forth battle to start the second set with the teams trading the lead up to a 10-10 tie. USD then outscored the Broncos 15-7 down the stretch behind a .455 hitting average and serving runs from
Camryn Tastad, Fayad and Benbow to take the second set 25-17 and lead the match 2-0.

After trading the first points of set three, USD pulled away to a 16-7 lead and never looked back. Wiblin collected six of her 14 kills in the frame and the Torero attack remained efficient, hitting at a .375 clip as a team with 19 kills on 40 swings and just four errors. The Toreros collected five of their 11 blocks in the final frame for a 25-17 third-set victory and the sweep.
