SAN DIEGO - The Toreros will continue a busy month with matchups against LMU and Pepperdine inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Thursday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 6.

Due to current state and county guidelines, fans will not be permitted inside the JCP. Fans can tune into both contests on the WCC Network or by following along with live statistics coverage on USDToreros.com.

San Diego will be donning new warmup shirts this month as the program honors Black History Month. The program has placed a focus on racial injustice this year, confronting the issue head-on with numerous initiatives.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros fired on all cylinders, beating out Portland 69-62 in the first rematch of the 2020 WCC Championship game.

• Three players scored in double figures, led by senior guard Sydney Hunter, who had 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals. Kendall Bird tacked on 14 points, and Myah Pace chipped in as well with 11 points, seven steals and two blocks.

• The nationally ranked defense generated mistakes in Monday's game, as the Toreros forced 31 Portland turnovers while committing just 19 themselves. This marks the second time during the 2020-21 campaign USD has forced 30+ opponent turnovers. The takeaways turned into 35 points on the offensive end of the floor as the current single-season steals record holder Pace led the way with seven steals individually for the Toreros.

• The Toreros entered the fourth tied at 47, after Erikstrup drew a crucial foul opportunity and hit one at the line to tie it up with under 20 seconds to go in the quarter. Portland then snagged a 54-50 advantage before San Diego responded by going on an 11-0 run, finished off by a layup from Bird, to seize a 61-54 lead with three minutes to go in the contest.

• Edwards sealed the win with a dagger in the paint to create an eight-point advantage (67-59) with a minute to go. The Toreros held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 69-62 win.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LMU
• The Toreros hold advantage in the all-time series against LMU at 47-31. San Diego is also currently on a two-game winning streak.

• This marks the first contest between the Lions and USD this season after the first matchup was postponed earlier this season.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PEPPERDINE
• The Waves own the all-time series and currently hold a nine game advantage at 46-37. The Toreros are on a two-game winning streak, after sweeping the matchups during the 2019-20 campaign.

STEAL CITY IN THE RANKINGS
• San Diego's defense continues to be a powerhouse both in the WCC and among NCAA Division I.

• The Toreros rank first in the conference in four defensive categories including steals, steals per game, turnovers forced and turnover margin.

• In Division I, San Diego is currently second in turnovers forced, third in steals per game and seventh in turnover margin. The Toreros have rarely dipped below the top 10 in any of these categories throughout the 2020-21 campaign.

• Edwards has been leading the defensive charge for USD and is currently ranked No. 10 in Division I for steals per game averaging 3.20 takeaways.

SEEING DOUBLE
• Through 10 contests in the 2020-21 campaign, the Toreros have had two or more players score in double figures in every win this season.

• Four players are tied for the most points in a game with 16. Ayanna Khalfani, Erica Martinsen, Edwards and Hunter have all recorded team-high performances spanning from Dec. 11 through Feb. 1.

• Hunter and Laura Erikstrup own the two double-doubles recorded by the Toreros this season with the last coming on Dec. 28 against Santa Clara.

THE HUNT FOR THE WCC CROWN
• The Toreros will look to continue their dominance in the West Coast Conference after finishing the 2019-20 regular season ranked second in the WCC. San Diego earned the triple-bye to the WCC Tournament Semi-finals for the first time in program history to knock off Pepperdine.

• San Diego then fell to Portland 64-63 in overtime in the WCC Championship and qualified for the 2020 WNIT prior to the season's cancellation in March. The postseason appearance would have marked the eighth under head coach Cindy Fisher's tenure at USD.
