SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's basketball enters its second three-game week with a road trip to Los Angeles to take on LMU on Monday.
Â
This marks the first in a series of four consecutive road games for USD, creating the program's longest road stretch in the 2020-21 campaign. The Toreros currently sit in third in the WCC standings behind nationally ranked Gonzaga and BYU.

LAST TIME OUTÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
• San Diego is coming off a three-win week after a 69-62 win at Portland and defeating LMU and Pepperdine inside the JCP. Last week marked the first three-game week of many for USD who will face quick turnarounds for the remainder of the regular season.

• Against the Lions, San Diego held LMU to just 26.5 percent shooting from the field on the way to a 51-43 victory. The Toreros had two players score in double figures, led by
Jordyn Edwards, who had 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Myah Pace recorded her second double-digit performance of the week with 11 points, six rebounds and five steals. Forward
Kendall Bird added eight points, eight rebounds and two steals.

• The depth of San Diego's rotation showed in a 70-45 route of Pepperdine as 12 players scored in the contest and every player saw time on the floor.
Steph Gorman led the Toreros with 12 points, five assists and four steals. Edwards tacked on six points, eight assists and two steals, and Pace chipped in as well with eight points and three steals.

• San Diego shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 23 assists on 27 made field goals. Edwards' eight assists paced the Toreros.

• The Toreros' offense also produced a new season-high in made threes with eight as USD shot 72.7 percent from three in the first half.

• San Diego's defense disrupted Pepperdine's shots as they collected a season-high eight blocks in the contest as Bird led the way with three rejections to tie her career-best.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LMU
• San Diego holds advantage in the all-time series at 48-31 and are currently on a three-game winning streak against the Lions. The Toreros will look for the regular-season sweep against LMU after beating the Lions on Thursday inside the JCP.

Kiera Oakry has returned in San Diego's rotation after shooting .500 from the field against Pepperdine. Early enrollee
Kylie Horstmeyer also collected her first minutes in a San Diego uniform against the Waves.

STEAL CITY IN THE RANKINGS
• San Diego's defense continues to be a powerhouse in NCAA Division I.

• San Diego is currently second in turnovers forced, third in steals per game and seventh in turnover margin. The Toreros have rarely dipped below the top 10 in any of these categories throughout the 2020-21 campaign.

• Edwards has been leading the defensive charge for USD and is currently ranked No. 9 in Division I for steals per game averaging 3.36 takeaways.

LEADING THE WAY
• Redshirt senior Edwards continues to lead all scorers averaging 10.2 points per game, now totaling 122 points on the year.

• Edwards ranks second only behind
Erica Martinsen from beyond the arc with 12 made threes on the year. Martinsen has collected 19 three-pointers to be San Diego's most potent threat from deep.

• Fellow senior Hunter has continued to be a key presence off the glass for USD, leading all players with 5.9 boards per game. She has a near even split on the offensive and defensive glass with 31 offensive boards and 40 defensive.

• On the defensive side of the ball, Edwards leads all players with 29 takeaways on the year. Four players have collected at least 20 steals on the season. Bird and Edwards are tied for most blocks with seven.

LOOKING AHEAD
• San Diego will have a few days rest before closing out another three-game week on the road at St. Mary's and then Pacific. The Toreros are in the midst of their longest road stretch that spans from Feb. 8 through Feb. 15.

THE HUNT FOR THE WCC CROWN
• The Toreros will look to continue their dominance in the West Coast Conference after finishing the 2019-20 regular season ranked second in the WCC. San Diego earned the triple-bye to the WCC Tournament Semi-finals for the first time in program history to knock off Pepperdine.

• San Diego then fell to Portland 64-63 in overtime in the WCC Championship and qualified for the 2020 WNIT prior to the season's cancellation in March. The postseason appearance would have marked the eighth under head coach
Cindy Fisher's tenure at USD.
