Toreros Set to Face Oregon

San Diego faces fourth Pac-12 opponent

SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's tennis (5-3) returns to the courts on Sunday March 21 as they welcome Oregon (9-2) to the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. (PT) 

Oregon is the fourth of five Pac-12 schools that the Toreros will face this season. San Diego has already played UCLA, USC and Cal and are scheduled to face Washington State on April 22. 

The Toreros are 1-3 versus the Ducks all-time with the last meeting coming in 2019, a 5-2 defeat for San Diego. 

Last time out, the Toreros were narrowly defeated by No. 17 Cal 4-3.The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead when they won the doubles point and extended it to 2-0 before Abigail Desiatnikov cut the lead to 2-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Cal clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-0 win followed by a 6-4, 6-3 win. 

Despite the loss, Solymar Colling and Elizabeth Goldsmith continued their strong play as they defeated nationally-ranked No. 40 Haley Giavara and Valentina Ivanov in doubles play. 

Colling then defeated No. 18 Giavara 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in singles play, and Goldsmith defeated No. 43 Julia Rosenqvist 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).
