SAN DIEGO - Showcasing another level of Winning in the Classroom, over 100 scholar-athletes earned the distinction of President's Honor Roll from the University of San Diego for the 2020-21 academic year after earning a 3.5 grade point average or higher. The group of scholar-athletes represented all 17 USD Athletics teams and marked the most on the honor roll since 2013.
 
The 109 honor roll recipients, who have completed at least two full-time semesters at USD, were honored Wednesday in a virtual event with USD President James T. Harris III, Executive Director of Athletics Bill McGillis, USD Vice President of Mission and Ministry Monsignor Dan Dillabough, USD Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Mitch Malachowski and other members of USD faculty and athletics staff. 
 
The teams with the highest number of honorees were football (21), women's rowing (18), swimming and diving (14) and women's cross country and track (13). 
 
The academic accolades come at heels of a record-setting fall in the classroom as all 17 varsity sports programs achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the first time in the 20 years USD Athletics has been keeping academic records.
 
A record number 35 scholar-athletes also achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2020 fall semester.
