SAN DIEGO - San Diego softball completed an exhibition against the U.S. Women's National Team as a part of the "Stand Beside Her Tour", holding the Olympic team to only five runs on Thursday afternoon inside the USD Softball Complex.

"I'm proud of how this team rose to the occasion," said head coach
MJ Knighten. "They took on the challenge to face the best in the country and competed from start to finish. We all walked away looking forward to what's to come."

Freshman
Katlin Entrup earned the start in the circle and held Team USA to only two hits in her first three innings of work.
Madison Earnshaw also took the mound for the Toreros pitching one inning and retiring the Olympic team in order going three, up three down.

San Diego faced Cat Osterman, Ally Carda and Olympic alternate Hailey Wagner in the circle. The Toreros put hits on the board in the second inning as
Lauren Hendrickson reached with a single to the left side.
Halle Kyler also reached base in the inning before Team USA retired the side.

Entrup gave up only her second hit of the ballgame in the top of the third, before registering a strikeout.

San Diego threatened again in the bottom of the third as
Rion Simms singled up the middle but was stranded 60 feet away on a hard-hit ball to Osterman.

The exhibition marked the second time the Toreros have faced the U.S. Women's National Team in their preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games, after a matchup during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.
