SAN DIEGO — San Diego men's soccer (0-3-0, 0-0-0 WCC) dropped a 2-0 decision to UC Riverside (3-0-0, 0-0-0 Big West) on Friday night at Torero Stadium to conclude its first homestand of the 2021 season.
Jake Schneider sent a shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the Highlanders came up with a team save to keep USD off the board. The Torero defense did their part in the first half as well, recording three saves (one team, two by goalkeeper
Marley Mascarenas) and a block in the half's final seconds to send the match to halftime with a score of 0-0.
Jonick Pineda and Caio Guazelli sealed the win for the Highlanders with a pair of goals in the second half, scoring in the 58th and 83rd minutes to earn UCR the 2-0 victory.

Luke Pardoe, and Schneider each notched shots in the game, while Schneider and Pardoe had shots on goal.Â
USD is back in action on Monday, September 6 when it takes on California Baptist in an away match. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
