Women's Basketball Falls Short to BYU

San Diego fell short 74-63

SAN DIEGO —The Toreros battled hard against the BYU Cougars but fell short 74-63. 

On offense, two players scored in double-digits for the Toreros on Saturday afternoon. Leading the Toreros was Jordyn Edwards with 13 points and Kasey Neubert with 10 points. Other key contributors on offense were Sydney Hunter with nine points and Steph Gorman with seven points. Collectively, San Diego scored 14 points off fast breaks and 19 points off turnovers. On defense, San Diego maintained their intensity to collect 13 steals and 31 rebounds. The Toreros also forced 19 turnovers on the BYU Cougars. 

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Sydney Hunter scored the team's first two points off a pass from Jordyn Edwards.
  • Hunter had the first steal of the game for another two points off the glass.
  • San Diego shot 50% from the three-point line in the second quarter. 
  • The Toreros forced four turnovers on BYU in the second quarter. 
  • Ayanna Khalfani led the Toreros in steals with two in the third quarter. 
  • Jordyn Edwards led San Diego with three three-pointers shooting 4-7 at the line. 
  • Kylie Horstmeyer set a career high of six rebounds.
