SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (2-1, 0-0 WCC) heads out on the road for the Bank of Hawai'I Classic, hosted by the University of Hawai'I in Manoa, Hawaii. The Toreros will face off against Lipscomb (2-2, 0-0 ASUN) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. PT and Florida Gulf Coast (2-0, 0-0 ASUN) on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT.
LAST TIME OUT
- San Diego battled tooth-and-nail with USC, but ultimately dropped a tight 58-50 decision to the Trojans on Tuesday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
- Myah Pace had a huge performance to pace the Toreros offense, scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Kiera Oakry turned in 12 points, while Laura Erikstrup pulled down 10 rebounds.
- San Diego continued to rebound the basketball at a high rate, outpacing the Trojans 43-31 on the glass.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- The Toreros have never faced both the Bisons and Eagles.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Pace has made steady progress in each game back from injury this season, with seven, 12 and most recently 16 points against USC in her last three games.
- San Diego is off to a tremendous start on the glass, recording their most rebounds in a single game since 2020 in the win over Biola.
- The team followed that up with more huge rebounding margins at Portland State and against USC and lead the WCC in rebounding margin (17.7) and offensive rebounds per game (19.0).
- In addition, those rebounding marks rank in the top-20 nationally, with rebounding margin at No. 13 and offensive rebounds per game at No. 17.
- The Toreros continue to turn defense into offense, as they lead the WCC in scoring defense at 50.7.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Amanda Olinger currently leads the WCC in blocks (5) and blocks per game (1.67).
- The Toreros enter a new foray this weekend, as the program has never faced any of the current members of the ASUN conference. Lipscomb and Florida Gulf Coast are both members of the conference.
- Pace is closing in on several milestones in her highly successful Torero career, sitting just 122 points away from 1,000 and 28 rebounds away from 500 in her collegiate career.
- In addition, Pace ranks fifth all-time in career steals with 207 and is 14 away from tying Amy Kame for fourth place.
