Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Pacific, 2-0

STOCKTON, CA – The University of San Diego men's soccer team (7-4-6, 5-0-1 WCC) remained undefeated in conference play on Friday night, defeating Pacific (3-10-2, 2-3-1 WCC) on the road, 2-0.
 
Senior midfielder Mason Tunbridge tallied a goal and an assist, and leads the team with six goals and 16 points on the season.
 
Freshman Simon Duus Muller scored his third goal of the season on a corner kick from Tunbridge to open the scoring in the first half.
 
Senior goalkeeper Jason Dubrovich registered his sixth shutout of the season, making three saves in the victory.
 
USD improves to 7-4-6 (5-0-1 WCC) on the season after its fourth straight win, and will travel to San Francisco for the regular season finale next weekend.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • San Diego got on the board first in the 14th minute, as Tunbridge found Duus Muller on a corner kick.
  • Pacific sent a dangerous ball into the box in the 31st minute, but Dubrovich made the save on a header.
  • Oshea Foster made a move to his left to create an opportunity from 10 yards out in the 53rd minute, but the Tigers goalkeeper made the save.
  • USD was awarded a penalty kick in the 54th minute. The shot from Tunbridge was initially saved, but the senior put away the rebound to give the Toreros a 2-0 advantage.
  • Dubrovich made another two saves over the final 32 minutes to seal the win.

  • Tunbridge ranks fifth in the WCC with six goals and tied for second with 16 points.
  • Dubrovich lowered his goals against average to 1.18 with a save percentage of 0.722.
