SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (4-3, 0-0 WCC) is back in the Jenny Craig Pavilion for their second consecutive tournament, hosting the USD Winter Classic from Dec. 3-4.
The Toreros will play New Mexico State (2-4, 0-0 WAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m., and hosts Nevada (2-3, 0-0 MWC) on Sunday at 4 p.m. Idaho (1-3, 0-0 Big Sky) is also in town to face the other two opponents this weekend.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
- San Diego vs. New Mexico State – Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- San Diego battled throughout the game, but ultimately fell to No. 15 Arizona, on Nov. 26 in the finale of The Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Classic.
- Myah Pace had another big game, going 7-for-13 from the field for 15 points.
- Veronica Sheffey added a career-high nine points off the bench.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- The Toreros have never beaten New Mexico State, trailing 0-3 in the all-time series. The Toreros and Aggies are meeting for the first time since 2003, when the Aggies won an overtime decision, 79-75.
- San Diego is 8-3 all-time against Nevada, having won the last four meetings, including the last one on Dec. 10, 2016, 70-54.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Pace has made steady progress in each game back from injury this season, with four performances in double digits, most recently going for 15 points against No. 15 Arizona.
- The Toreros continue to turn defense into offense, as they lead the WCC in scoring defense at 58.1.
- The Toreros also lead the WCC in blocks per game (3.3) showing tremendous discipline on the defensive end.
- Gabby Giuffre makes her return to the Jenny Craig Pavilion this weekend with Nevada. Giuffre spent two seasons at San Diego, playing in 45 games.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Amanda Olinger ranks second in the WCC in blocks per game (1.14).
- Pace is set to play in her 100th game this weekend. The graduate student has had a prolific career in San Diego since stepping foot on campus.
- Pace is closing in on several milestones in her highly successful Torero career, sitting just 78 points away from 1,000 and 13 rebounds away from 500 in her collegiate career.
- In addition, Pace ranks fifth all-time in career steals with 212 and is nine away from tying Amy Kame for fourth place.
