Shooting 52.9% from long range, CSUN (3-8) defeated the University of San Diego men's basketball team (7-7) last Thursday, 83-78. Junior Sigu Sisoho Jawara led the Toreros with 25 points (10-11 FT), including 20 in the second half. He added three rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block. Fifth year guard Marcellus Earlington also scored 20+ points for the second straight game, contributing 22 (11-12 FT) and seven rebounds in the loss. Graduate guard Eric Williams Jr. narrowly missed his eighth double-double of the season, ending with 15 points and nine rebounds.
SCOUTING THE GAELS
Saint Mary's was picked to finish second in the WCC Preseason Poll, and jumped out to a 6-0 record to begin the season. After three straight losses, including an 53-48 setback to #1 Houston, the Gaels have won four of their last five. Saint Mary's leads the WCC and ranks 10th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 57.4 points per game. Four different players are averaging double figures, including freshman guard Aidan Mahaney (13.6 PPG), junior center Mitchell Saxen (12.9 PPG, 8.5 RPG), senior forward Alex Ducas (12.5 PPG), and fifth year guard Logan Johnson (11.6 PPG, 3.6 APG).
