San Diego Softball Secures First Home Win of Season

The Toreros defeat the Demons 9-4

SAN DIEGO — The Toreros (4-3, 0-0 WCC) defeated the DePaul Demons 9-4 (5-1) in their home opener on Friday, February 18, 2022. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
  • Madison Earnshaw started in the circle for the Toreros. 
  • At the bottom of the third inning, Amanda Limon singles to right field to drive Sofia Delgado home to tie the game, 1-1. 
  • The Toreros continued their momentum at the plate when Noelle Hee hit a double to right center to drive in two RBIs. 
  • Joecellia Roberts and Amanda Limon scored to put San Diego in the lead, 3-1, to close the third inning.
  • At the top of the fifth, Alexia Torculas singled up the middle. 
  • Amanda Limon bunted at the plate to send Torculas to second and was safe at first base in the fifth inning. 
  • On a wild pitch, Limon advances to second and Torculas runs to third during the fifth inning. 
  • JoJo Roberts singles up the middle to drive in two RBIs and puts San Diego back in the lead, 5-4, at the bottom of the fifth. 
  • Arisa Tovar singled to left field to drive in an RBI. Joecellia Roberts scored to build the lead of 6-4 at the bottom of the fifth. 
  • At the bottom of the sixth, Amanda Limon singled through the left side and Savannah Alarcon advanced to second. 
  • Alexia Torculas singled to third base moving Alarcon to third and Limon to second at the bottom of the sixth. 
  • Noelle Hee singled up the middle to drive in two RBIs. Alrcon and Limon scored to make the score 8-4 at the bottom of the sixth. 
  • Arisa Tovar singles up the middle to drive in an RBI at the bottom of the sixth. Alexia Torculas scores! San Diego leads 9-4.

  • Madison Earnshaw was on fire at the circle and struck out eight batters at the plate. 
  • Courtney Rose pitched two hit-less innings to close out the game.
