Women's Basketball Defeats Pacific for Fourth Straight Win

Toreros defeat Pacific 87-80

SAN DIEGO —The Toreros defeated the Pacific Tigers by seven points in the Jenny Craig Pavilion; 87-80. 

Steph Gorman set a new career high in scoring by dropping 23 points against Pacific. Gorman exceeded her previous record of 22 points against CSUN on December 5, 2021. Gorman shot 8-17 from the field, 3-11 from the three-point line, and 4-5 from the free throw line. 

Also leading the Toreros in double-digit scoring was Sydney Hunter with 17 points and Kiera Oakry with 14 points. San Diego protected the ball and only had seven turnovers, their lowest amount in a single game this season. Collectively, the Toreros tallied 17 assists. 

On defense, San Diego collected 39 rebounds and nine steals. The Toreros also forced 23 turnovers on the Tigers. For the second consecutive game, Jordyn Edwards and Erica Martinsen led the team in steals. Jordyn Edwards snatched three steals and Erica Martinsen had two.

  • The Toreros shot 85.7% in the third quarter from the free throw line.

  • San Diego scored 29 points off turnovers compared to Pacific's two points.
