Toreros battled hard against the Utes but fell short

SAN DIEGO — The Toreros (6-6) fell short to the Utah Utes (7-4) with a final score of 5-0.

  • Madison Earnshaw started in the circle for the Toreros. 
  • In the top of the fourth, Madison Earnshaw recorded her first strikeout against Utah and for the first out.
  • Joecellia Roberts kicks things off for the Toreros' offense with a single down the right field line in the bottom of the fourth. 
  • Noelle Hee continued the momentum with a single to third base to advance Joecellia Roberts to second base in the bottom of the fourth.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Ashley Daugherty singled to right field. The Toreros trail 4-0. 
  • Alexia Torculas singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth.

The Toreros will host the UC San Diego Tritons on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 5 p.m. inside the USD Softball Complex. San Diego holds and all time record of 41-29 against UCSD with their most recent contest on March 21, 2021 and resulted in a 5-4 win under head coach MJ Knighten.
