PALM SPRINGS — The Toreros got off to a strong start at the Mary Nutter Classic finishing the day with a 9-2 win over Bethune-Cookman. Earlier in the day, San Diego fell short 0-3 against Utah. 

USD 0 | UTAH 3

• Courtney Rose started in the circle for the Toreros. 
• In the top of the second, Noelle Hee singles to right field. 
• In the bottom of the second, Courtney Rose recorded her first strikeout of the game.
• Courtney Rose recorded two strikeouts to close out the inning in the bottom of the third. 
• Sofia Delgado hit a double in the top of the fifth to kick things off for the Toreros. 
• Courtney Rose strikes out another batter in the bottom of the fifth. This marks her fifth strikeout thus far. 
• In the top of the sixth, Clareese Santiago and Amanda Limon singled to left field.
• Courtney Rose closes out with a strikout in the bottom of the sixth.

• Courtney Rose struck out six batters against Utah in six innings pitched. In the 2022 season, Rose is the leading pitcher for the Toreros recording 37 strikeouts thus far. 
• Sofia Delgado hit her fourth double of the season. One double behind Noelle Hee, Delgado is the second-leading Torero hitting four doubles so far.
•  Noelle Hee leads the Toreros in hits with 13 followed by Joecellia Roberts and Amanda Limon tied at 11. 
• The Toreros had four hits against Utah from Amanda Limon, Noelle Hee, Sofia Delgado, and Clareese Santiago.

• McKenna Braegelmann started in the circle for the Toreros.
• In the top of the first, Noelle Hee hits a double and drives in an RBI. Hee sends Alexia Torculas home to score, San Diego leads 1-0.
• Madison Earnshaw records her first strikeout of the game in the bottom of the second. 
• In the top of the third, Sofia Delgado doubled to right center. 
• Clareese Santiago singled through the left side. 
• To kick off their offense, Alexia Torculas reached first on a fielding error and sent Clareese Santiago home to score, 2-2.
• With Alexia Torculas and Joecellia Roberts on base, Noelle Hee hit a home run to center field to take the lead and drove in three RBIs! San Diego leads 5-2 in the top of the seventh. 
• Clareese Santiago drove in four RBIs with her grand slam to send Sophia Bjerk, Arisa Tovar, and Sofia Delgado home to score. San Diego takes a huge lead, 9-2.

• McKenna Braegelmann recorded two strikeouts against Bethune-Cookman and brought her season total up to four.
• Two Toreros hit their first home run of the season: Noelle Hee and Clareese Santiago.
