San Diego Softball Eight-Run Seventh Inning Secures Win

The Toreros defeated Bethune-Cookman 9-2

PALM SPRINGS The Toreros got off to a strong start at the Mary Nutter Classic finishing the day with a 9-2 win over Bethune-Cookman. Earlier in the day, San Diego fell short 0-3 against Utah.

  • Courtney Rose started in the circle for the Toreros. 
  • In the top of the second, Noelle Hee singles to right field. 
  • In the bottom of the second, Courtney Rose recorded her first strikeout of the game.
  • Courtney Rose recorded two strikeouts to close out the inning in the bottom of the third. 
  • Sofia Delgado hit a double in the top of the fifth to kick things off for the Toreros. 
  • Courtney Rose strikes out another batter in the bottom of the fifth. This marks her fifth strikeout thus far. 
  • In the top of the sixth, Clareese Santiago and Amanda Limon singled to left field.
  • Courtney Rose closes out with a strikout in the bottom of the sixth.

  • McKenna Braegelmann recorded two strikeouts against Bethune-Cookman and brought her season total up to four.
  • Two Toreros hit their first home run of the season: Noelle Hee and Clareese Santiago
    • Noelle Hee drove in three more RBIs bringing her total to 11 RBIs this season. Hee leads the Toreros in hits and RBIs thus far this season. 
    • Clareese Santiago drove in her first four RBIs through her first grand slam this season. 
  • Sofia Delgado hit her fourth double of the season. One double behind Noelle Hee, Delgado is the second-leading Torero hitting four doubles so far.
  • Madison Earnshaw pitched three innings to close out and earn her third win for a record of 3-2.
