San Diego Softball Comes Up Short Against Seattle U and Iowa State

The Toreros went 0-2 in day two of the Mary Nutter Classic Tournament

PALM SPRINGS The Toreros endured a tough second day at the Mary Nutter Classic with a 1-5 loss to Seattle U and 5-17 loss to Iowa State. San Diego is looking ahead to the last day of the tournament seeking redemption. 

USD 1 | SEATTLE  5
  • Ashley Daugherty started in the circle for the Toreros. 
  • In the top of the first, Ashley Daugherty records her first strikeout of the game. 
  • Courtney Rose replaced Daughterty in the circle in the top of the second and struck out her first batter. 
  • Courtney Rose struck out two batters in the top of the fourth. 
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Arisa Tovar singled up the middle to kick things off for the Toreros. 
  • Courtney Rose dominated the circle recording three strikeouts for all three outs in the top of the seventh.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Sofia Delgado singled up the middle. Delgado stole home to put one run on the board for the Toreros.

  • Ashley Daugherty recorded one strikeout and allowed only one hit in one inning pitched. 
  • Courtney Rose struck out seven batters against Seattle U in six innings pitched. In the 2022 season, Rose is the leading pitcher for the Toreros recording 44 strikeouts thus far. 
  • The Toreros had three hits against Seattle from Amanda Limon, Sofia Delgado, and Arisa Tovar.
