Women' Basketball Falls Short to San Francisco in Tough Battle

The Toreros lost 61-48 to the Dons

SAN FRANCISCO —The Toreros gave it their all against the San Francisco Dons but came up short 61-48. 

Leading the Toreros' offensive efforts were Jordyn Edwards and Sydney Hunter with 12 points each. Other key contributors on offense were Steph Gorman and Kendall Bird with six points. On offense, the Toreros tallied 10 assists. On defense, San Diego collected 36 rebounds, 12 steals, and two blocks. The Toreros also forced 21 turnovers on the Dons. 

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Kendall Bird throws a dime to Sydney Hunter to score the first two points.
  • San Diego forced 10 turnovers on San Francisco in the first half. 
  • Jordyn Edwards maintains her power to make a layup after being brought to the ground from a hard foul in the third quarter. 
  • San Diego had eight rebounds in the third quarter.
  • The Toreros grabbed five steals and 10 rebounds in the fourth quarter.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will continue their road trek and travel to Santa Clara to play on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. PT. San Diego holds a 42-37 record against Santa Clara with a two game losing streak. Their last contest took place on December 28, 2021 and resulted in a 49-51 loss under head coach Cindy Fisher.
