SANTA CLARA, CA – A complete game shutout from
Courtney Rose and 15 hits from the offense led the University of San Diego softball team to a 7-0 win over Santa Clara on Saturday. The Broncos answered in game two with a 1-0 win.

Rose tossed all seven innings in the opener, allowing just two hits and striking out nine batters.

Ashley Daugherty launched a two-run home run in game two, then pitched six innings in game two, allowing just one run and three hits. Â

Alexia Torculas went 4-for-8 on the day with an RBI, a triple, and a run scored.

The Toreros record now stands at 20-33 (5-8 WCC) on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In game one, San Diego started the scoring in the top of the third. After Torculas singled, Daugherty launched a two-run home run to left field.
- Joecellia Roberts doubled to right field in the top of the fifth, and later scored on an RBI single from Lauren Hendrickson.
- Santa Clara put a runner on third with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but Rose struck out the next batter to end the threat.
- San Diego put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh. Roberts and Clareese Santiago led off with back-to-back singles. After Sofia Delgado hit an infield RBI single, Limon ripped a two-RBI triple to center field to make it 6-0.
- Torculas continued her strong day and tacked on another run with an RBI single through the left side to score Limon.
- Game two only saw five total hits between the teams.
- Santa Clara scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first. After drawing a walk, the next batter hit an RBI triple.
- Ashley Daugherty settled in after the first, tossing five scoreless innings and allowing just two hits in that span.
- Torculas tripled in the top of the third, but San Diego was retired after a strike out.

- Rose's nine strikeouts were a career high. She lowered her ERA to 3.28 and won her seventh game of the year.
- Torculas bumped her season batting average up to .302 on the season. She leads the team with three triples.
- Sofia Delgado went 3-for-6 on the day with an RBI single.
