Road Swing Concludes With Loss at Colorado

True freshman Cameryn Maddox notches first career goal in 5-1 defeat to Buffs

BOULDER, Co. — True freshman forward Cameryn Maddox notched the Toreros' first goal of 2022 on Sunday afternoon but San Diego women's soccer dropped a tough road decision at Colorado, falling by a 5-1 margin to the Buffaloes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Buffs struck first with a pair of goals in the first half and another to kick off the second to jump out to a 3-0 lead before Maddox got USD on the board in the 56th minute.
  • The Snellville, Georgia native found the back of the net and moved the score to 3-1 with an assist from Florida transfer Adalee Broadbent (defender), but San Diego would get no closer after CU answered with two more scores of their own.
TORERO TIDBITS
  • Maddox's goal was the first of her college career and came alongside another shot on goal for a team-high two.
  • Graduate transfer Brianna Pearson (defender, Utah), true freshman midfielder Josefine Schlichting, and senior defender Malia Walencewicz all had one shot on the afternoon.
  • True freshman goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian (La Jolla High School) recorded six saves across all 90 minutes in her first career college start.
