SAN DIEGO — Freshman Cameryn Maddox and sophomore Sara Evans helped San Diego women's soccer (1-2-0, 0-0-0 WCC) open up its 2022 home slate in style on Thursday night, hammering home a pair of goals to lead the Toreros to a 2-1 victory over CSU Bakersfield (1-2-0, 0-0-0 Big West) at Torero Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maddox got the scoring started in the 40th minute with a score to the low center section of the net via an assist from fellow freshman Ashley Wright, giving USD a 1-0 advantage that it carried into halftime.
  • Evans doubled the San Diego lead at the 61:12 mark in the second half, finding the low left corner of the net with an assist from senior midfielder Eden Quiroz and Maddox to make it 2-0.
  • The Roadrunners answered back with a goal of their own in the 65th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 but would get no closer.
