RIVERSIDE, CA – Scoring three goals in the final 33:36, the University of San Diego men's soccer team earned a road win at UC Riverside on Sunday night, 3-1.
The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but senior
Mason Tunbridge was successful on his second penalty kick of the season in the 57
th minute to tie the game.

Christian Vigil, who scored far post for the lead.

Bryce Even extended USD's lead in the 86
th minute, finding the back of the net on a corner kick from Tunbridge.
USD improves to 1-3-2 on the season, and will travel to UCSD on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tunbridge sent a bending left-footed shot towards goal in the 4th minute, but the UC Riverside keeper barely got a hand on it to send it over the bar.
- Just over 20 minutes into the match, Tunbridge dribbled to the middle of the field and sent another dangerous shot that soared inches above the bar.
- UC Riverside got on the board first in the 30th minute. After goalkeeper Jason Dubrovich made an impressive save on a fast shot, the Highlanders connected on the rebound.
- Alex Churness received a pass and dribbled down the left sideline in the 57th minute. After turning inside, he was fouled inside of the box. Tunbridge buried his second penalty kick of the season to the right side to make it 1-1.
- USD took the lead in the 72nd minute, as Martinez played a long through ball to Vigil, who finished far post.
- The Toreros extended their lead in the 86th minute, as Tunbridge sent a corner kick to the far post, where Even dove to knock it in.

- Tunbridge leads the team with two goals and five points this season. He has four goals, four assists, and 12 points in just 13 games at USD.
- Vigil notched his first career goal on the first career assist from Martinez.
