Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Olinger’s Career Night Powers Women’s Basketball Past Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – The San Diego women's basketball program (11-10, 5-5 WCC) got a career best performance from senior Amanda Olinger, en route to a 74-67 win over Pacific (7-14, 2-8 WCC) on Thursday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

Olinger finished with career-highs in points (17) and rebounds (eight) while Kiera Oakry also added 17 points to help pace the offense. Kasey Neubert finished a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Much like the last meeting on Dec. 31, both teams got off to hot starts from the field and traded blows throughout the first quarter.
  • Olinger started the game red hot, scoring the team's first seven points. However, the Tigers finished the quarter with a 19-17 lead.
  • After the Tigers took a 23-19 lead, the Toreros offense came together quickly, going on a 15-2 run.
  • Oakry was a critical part of the run, hitting three separate three-pointers during the stretch.
  • Nevertheless, the Tigers answered with an 8-0 run before the end of the second quarter and the Toreros would lead 34-33 at halftime.
  • After continuing a back-and-forth third quarter, the two sides were tied at 49-49 with 1:36 left in the period.
  • The Toreros would pull away from there, building a lead as high as 14 points.
  • Myah Pace found her shot late in the game and finished with 10 points, scoring several key baskets late in the game to help pull away.

TORERO TIDBITS
  • The Toreros have now won four consecutive games against Pacific, averaging 81.5 points per game over those wins.
  • San Diego held the Tigers to a three-point percentage of 11.1, the lowest any opponent has shot against them from distance this season.
  • Oakry and Olinger became the first Torero duo to score 17 points apiece since Steph Gorman (23) and Sydney Hunter (17) did so against Pacific on Feb. 17, 2022.
  • Ayanna Khalfani played in her 100th game as a Torero in the win over Pacific.
