SAN DIEGO — San Diego swimming and diving plunged into into 2023 with a fun relay meet against Colorado State Pueblo, taking down the Timberwolves 16-10 on Thursday afternoon at The Plunge San Diego in an unconventional lineup of three relays: the 200 Medley, the 3X50 Fly, and the 200 Free.
The USD C took home first place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:51.73, beating out a pair of CSU Pueblo teams as
Penelope Leonard (27.27), Elena Ellie (31.34), Skylar Horder (27.90), and
Ashley Savoie (24.56) excelled.
San Diego also won the 150 Fly Relay, doing so with a time of 1:21.33 that was powered by strong performances from
Rachel Hubka (27.31),
Ava Delaney (27.75), and
Audrey Gingras (26.27) in the USD B.
The afternoon's third and final relay featured yet another USD win, with
Analeis Vos (24.48),
Gigi Zinis (24.56),
Rachel Hubka (24.55), and
Ava Delaney (25.20) leading the Toreros to a first-place finish as the USD A with a time of 1:38.89.
The Toreros are back in action tomorrow (January 7) with a meet against California Baptist and Incarnate Word at the Lancer Aquatic Center. The meet is set to get underway at 11 a.m.
