Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tunbridge and the Toreros Earn Draw with San Diego State at Snapdragon Stadium

SAN DIEGO – In a wild, back-and-forth contest at Snapdragon Stadium, the San Diego men's soccer program (8-3-2, 2-0-0 WCC) secured a 1-1 draw against San Diego State (6-2-4, 0-2-2 PAC-12) on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In front of a crowd of 3,632 people at Snadragon Stadium, the Toreros took control of the flow of the game early in the evening.
  • The Toreros limited the Aztecs to just one shot in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, San Diego nearly struck for the first goal of the game, as Samy Kanaan broke through with a clean look at goal, but stumbled slightly and his shot was pulled off the line by an Aztec defender.
  • The two sides played an even first half, entering the break at 0-0.
  • Despite the shot advantage, the Aztecs struck first in the 53rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
  • Both sides played a cagey next 20 minutes, but the Toreros were able to strike from thin air.
  • Steven Ramirez dropped the ball off for Ethan Warne, who quicky fed Mason Tunbridge from outside the box.
  • Tunbridge made no mistake, ripping a first time shot into the upper right corner of the net to tie the match at 1-1 in the 74th minute.
  • The two sides would each get one more chance in the final 15 minutes of the game.
  • Kanaan got another strong chance and forced the Aztecs goalkeeper to make a diving save.

TORERO TIDBITS
  • Tunbridge joins Cesar Bahena as the second player to tally three consecutive matches with at least one point this season.
  • The Toreros defense held San Diego State to a season-low in shots, allowing just four all game.
