SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's tennis program saw tremendous success across the board over the weekend, reaching multiple quarterfinals of the highly competitive ITA Southwest Regionals, hosted jointly at the Hogan Tennis Center by San Diego and at San Diego State.
 
The entire roster breezed through the opening rounds, as the team only dropped one game in three matches during the opening round and no sets in the round of 64.
 
Three Toreros continued on to the round of 16, as No. 75 Abigail Desiatnikov, Elizabeth Goldsmith and No. 97 Claudia De Las Heras surged through all of their matches in straight sets.
 
Goldsmith earned a signature victory in the round of 16, gritting out a three-set victory over No. 38 Eryn Cayetano of USC. The win was the highest ranked singles win of her career and propelled her into the quarterfinal.
 
In doubles, Mia Mack and Goldsmith made a lengthy run of their own, reaching the quarterfinal. The duo earned back-to-back wins over opponents from Arizona, before falling in a tight 8-5 decision to the No. 28 ranked duo of Naomi Cheong and Snow Han from USC.
 
The Toreros will be back home to end the fall season, hosting the Torero Tennis Classic from Nov. 3-5 at the Hogan Tennis Center.
