Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Winner Downs Women’s Soccer Against Pacific

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (1-10-2, 0-2-1 WCC) dropped a heartbreaking loss on Saturday afternoon, falling, 1-0, to Pacific (7-6-1, 1-2-0 WCC) on senior day at Torero Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • On an afternoon where the Toreros honored their senior class, the team came out of the gate with energy.
  • Katie Baxter, Sara Evans and Lexi Zandonella-Arasa earned early chances, but the Pacific backline prevented the Toreros from getting more high-quality looks.
  • Later in the half, Sophine Kevorkian made a pair of saves, ultimately finishing with five on the afternoon.
  • Quality chances proved to be low in the second half, as both sides maintained a strong backline.
  • Baxter recorded the best chance of the game in the 83rd minute, getting a feed off a strong passing play from Zandonella-Arasa and Lauren Tanner.
  • Pacific's goalkeeper made a sliding save on Baxter's free run, keeping it level.
  • Pacific was able to strike for the game-winner in the 90th minute, as Ryanne Molenaar scored on a counter attack with 40 seconds left in the match.

TORERO TIDBITS
  • The Toreros finished 12 shots in the game, good for their second largest output of the season.
  • San Diego held Pacific to 12 shots in the loss. All four of the lowest shot outputs by an opponent have now come at home.
