MALIBU — San Diego volleyball (15-9, 11-3 WCC) is set to continue West Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon with a critical matchup at Pepperdine (17-6, 13-0 WCC).
First serve at the Firestone Fieldhouse is set for 12:00 p.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, and live statistics will be available on PepperdineWaves.com.
LAST TIME OUT - SAN DIEGO SWEEPS SAN FRANCISCO
• Four Toreros hit .417 or better on Thursday evening as the Toreros earned a West Coast Conference sweep over San Francisco (10-15, 4-9 WCC) at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
• The Toreros took the first set 25-18, won the second 25-19 and closed the match with a 25-20 set win for its fourth consecutive victory and third sweep in the last four matches.
• Freshman outside hitter
Nemo Beach led the match with 13 kills and helped the Toreros out hit the Dons .329 to .110. San Diego out-killed San Francisco 40-27.
• USD has now won six of its last eight WCC matches of 2023 and has prevailed in straight sets 10 times this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PEPPERDINE
• The Toreros are 36-43 against the Waves all-time, with the two teams' most recent meeting coming earlier this season on October 21, a tough 3-0 USD loss in the JCP.
• San Diego tested Pepperdine that afternoon, pushing the Waves in a hard-fought 26-24 loss in the first set before dropping 25-16 and 25-21 decisions in the second and third frames.
• Pries hit a team-high .290 that day as she added 10 digs to record her second double-double of the season.
• Stoner and Blackwell each totaled four blocks.
LEYLA BLACKWELL NAMED WCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Senior middle blocker
Leyla Blackwell has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for November 6, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon.
• Blackwell led the San Diego defense in a pair of wins at Santa Clara and Pacific last week, totaling 15 blocks (1.88 B/S).
• She got things started with four blocks on Thursday night in a road sweep of the Broncos, then added 11 more (one solo) and six digs at Pacific in a five-set win over the Tigers.
• This is Blackwell's second WCC weekly award this season, the seventh of her USD career and the fifth overall in 2023 for the Toreros.

A HELPING HAND
• After not seeing any game action last season, Isadora Terçariol has emerged as the WCC's top setter in 2023, averaging 10.21 assists per set through 24 matches that ranks 46th nationally.
• A native of Säo Paulo, Brazil, Terçariol joined the Toreros as a transfer before the pandemic-modified Spring 2021 season.
• She has since totaled 1,786 assists in a San Diego uniform, including a team-high 745 in 2023.
• The 1,500th assist of her career came in USD's 3-0 sweep of Pacific at the JCP on October 7.
• Terçariol was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week on October 9, making her the first San Diego setter to earn the honor since first-team All-American
Gabby Blossom was selected on November 7, 2022.

• San Diego native and La Jolla High School alum
Leyla Blackwell ranks 25th nationally with an average of 1.32 blocks per set.
• Her 112 total blocks through 24 matches in 2023 are the most on the USD roster and rank second in the WCC.
• Blackwell has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week seven times in her career, including twice this season.
MILESTONE WATCH

Leyla Blackwell notched her 450th career block last Thursday at LMU and is now just 18 away from reaching 500 in her career. She is also just 66 career points away from 1,000.

Madi Allen, who has started the season with 15 consecutive games with at least 10 digs, earned her 1,000th career dig on October 14 at San Francisco. She is also just one ace away from notching her 100th during her collegiate career.
• Isadora Terçariol reached 1,500 assists on October 7 against Pacific. She now has 1,786 across three college seasons.
