SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (3-3, 0-0 WCC) dropped their finale of The Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Tournament, falling, 93-56, to UNLV (6-0, 0-0 MWC) on Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Harsimran Kaur and
Courtney Wristen led the way for San Diego with 10 points apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNLV would jump out to an early lead, beginning the game on an 11-2 run, before a Veronica Sheffey jumper broke up the run.
- Despite some positive early jump shots from Kaur, the Lady Rebels lead extended their lead to 23-8 through the first quarter.
- UNLV extended their lead further, building a 34-8 advantage, before Kaur broke the run.
- At the half, the Rebels held a 51-21 advantage.
- The Toreros found some early fire in the third quarter, as Wristen began to heat up, with a three-pointer and a jumper early in the quarter.
- However, the Lady Rebels would weather the early storm out of halftime and further extend their lead towards the remainder of the third.
- Despite some strong play by Mila Wawszkowicz, with a pair of three pointers, the Toreros could not break into the UNLV lead and would ultimately fall.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Wawszkowicz finished with a career-high seven points in the loss.
- San Diego finished with a season-low in turnovers at just 16.
