SAN DIEGO — Middle blockers Kinley Swan and Kristen Erland have been added to the San Diego volleyball roster for the 2024 season as transfers, head coach
Jennifer Petrie announced on Thursday evening.
Swan joins the Toreros as a junior after spending the first two years of her college career at Oregon State. She appeared in 37 matches and 116 sets for the Beavers, hitting .304 as she totaled 160 kills, 62 block assists, 12 solo blocks, 19 digs, four assists, and a service ace. The Orem, Utah native attended Lone Peak High School, where she helped the Knights win three state championships. As part of Club V Volleyball, Swan helped her team win the Triple Crown SLC in the open division. She is set to study Anthropology at USD.
Erland joins the Toreros as a senior after spending the first three seasons of her college career with West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's. She appeared in 77 matches and 274 sets for the Gaels, hitting .273 as she totaled 492 kills, 214 block assists, 17 solo blocks, 53 digs, eight assists, and four service aces. Erland was among SMC's top defenders over the last two years, recording the team's second-most blocks in both her sophomore and junior campaigns while also notching the Gael's fourth-most kills in both 2022 and 2023. She is set to study Communications at USD.
The Toreros are set to resume their pursuit of a West Coast Conference championship next August.
