Women’s Basketball Ends Regular Season Road Slate at San Francisco, Santa Clara

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (15-10, 9-5 WCC) will wrap up the regular season road schedule this weekend, facing San Francisco (16-10, 6-8 WCC) on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m., and Santa Clara (14-13, 5-9 WCC) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Toreros won their fifth consecutive game by beating Pepperdine 75-63, behind a sensational performance from Ayanna Khalfani.
  • Khalfani finished with a career-high 23 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, five blocks and four steals, en route to WCC Co-Player of the Week honors.
  • The award is the first such honor in her collegiate career.

OPPONENT HISTORY
  • The Toreros are 43-34 all-time against the Dons, but are looking to snap a two-game losing streak, that includes a loss at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Jan. 21.
  • San Diego holds a 43-40 lead in the all-time series against Santa Clara, but will also seek to avenge a loss in the Jenny Craig Pavilion earlier this season.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • Handling the basketball remains one of the key factors for San Diego, who lead the WCC in turnover margin (2.56), while ranking third in turnovers forced per game (16.64).
  • The Toreros continue to find success on the glass, ranking 34th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.2).
  • Kasey Neubert has been dominant on the glass in recent weeks, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game over her last seven contests and 7.3 rebounds per game this season, which ranks fifth in the conference.
  • Should her pace continue, it would be the highest per game average by a Torero since Patricia Brossmann (7.6 RPG) in the 2018-19 season.
  • San Diego is hoping to jump out to an early lead, where they tend to have the most success. San Diego is 13-3 when leading or tied at halftime, while 2-7 when they trail. The team broke their 0-5 start when they trail with a 16-point comeback victory over Saint Mary's on Dec. 29 and added the other win last Saturday against BYU.

TORERO TIDBITS
  • Oakry has been adept at drawing contact all season and has gotten to the free throw line frequently, ranking third in the WCC and in the top-100 nationally in free throws made (98). As a unit, the Toreros lead the league in free throw attempts per game and makes per game.
  • Myah Pace (1,060) is continuing her climb up the Toreros record books and sits in 19th on the all-time scoring list. Pace needs six more points to match Morgan Woodrow (1,066) for 18th.
  • In addition, Pace is 15 steals away from 250 in her career and ranks fourth all-time at San Diego, needing five to match Amanda Rego (240) for third place.
  • Pace is also eighth all-time in assists at 358 and needs four more to match Dominique Conners (362) for seventh.
  • Neubert is closing in on 500 rebounds in her collegiate career between Hawai'I and San Diego, needing 19 rebounds to reach the threshold.
