HOW IT HAPPENED – SAN DIEGO 4, FDU 5

- However, Rose and the Toreros settled down, as Rose responded with four straight scoreless frames, while the offense found its footing. Â
- Alyssa Hernandez and Clareese Santiago each reached and were moved over to second and third base respectively by Mikalyn Emanuelli.
- Izzy Owen brought home the first run on an RBI sacrifice fly, but Amanda Limon helped bring the Toreros all the way back, lacing a single that was misplayed in right field, and sped all the way around the bases to tie the game at 3-3.
- The Knights were able to take the lead back in the fifth inning, by capitalizing on a Torero error to score a runner on an RBI groundout.
- A key run for FDU came in the seventh inning on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, to extend the lead to 5-3.
- Despite the deficit, the Toreros attempted a late rally, beginning with an Emma Giaime single.
- Ashley Daugherty put the ball in play and FDU made an error, scoring Giaime and cutting the lead to 5-4.
- However, FDU was able to escape and leave a San Diego runner on-base.
- Rose would finish with a complete game, allowing just one earned run over seven innings, while striking out four.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED – SAN DIEGO 3, BOISE STATE 11
- Boise State opened the game with a solo home run, but the Toreros quickly responded in the bottom of the first.
- An Owen single and Limon reaching base helped set up Joecellia Roberts, who brought home Owen on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
- Three runs for the Broncos created some space over the next two innings, but the Toreros offense found ways to answer.
- Three straight singles from Emanuelli, Owen and Limon gave the Toreros some life in the third inning.
- Emanuelli scored on a wild pitch and Roberts added another run on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3.
- However, the Broncos scored seven consecutive runs over the next two innings to pull away for the victory.
