Toreros Drop Game Two at Saint Mary's

San Diego falls to Gaels by 6-0 margin on Saturday afternoon

MORAGA, Calif. — San Diego baseball (23-24-1, 16-9 WCC) dropped the middle game of its series against Saint Mary's on Saturday, falling to the Gaels (21-23, 14-12 WCC) by a 6-0 margin at Gallagher Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saint Mary's got the scoring started in the bottom of the first on a solo homer and a pair of RBI singles to take an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Gaels scored three more times on RBI singles in the third, fourth, and sixth innings to create a 6-0 advantage that USD could not overcome.
ON THE MOUND
  • Austin Smith started Saturday afternoon's game on the mound and turned in 3.1 innings.
  • He was followed by James Sashin, who allowed just one run across 3.1 frames of his own.
  • Nick Suspenzi and Drake Frize closed the game out with 0.2 scoreless innings apiece.
