ROAD WARRIORS
• This weekend's action in Atlanta marks the end of a season-long five-game road stint for San Diego.
A FAMILIAR FOE
• USD's opponent on Saturday will be a familiar one for Stivrins, who spent three seasons at Georgia (2020-2021, 2021, and 2022) before joining San Diego this spring as a graduate transfer.
• Stivrins appeared in 65 matches for the Bulldogs in that span, which included her sophomore, junior, and senior years, totaling 693 kills and 81 service aces across 246 sets.
• Her 212 kills as a sophomore in the 2020-2021 season were the most on the Georgia roster and her 47 service aces as a junior in 2021 led the SEC.
MILESTONE CHASING
• Between her 169 kills as a freshman at Louisville, her 692 kills in three seasons at Georgia, and her 104 kills as a Torero thus far in 2023, Stivrins enters this weekend's action with 965 kills, just 35 away from 1,000 for her career.
• And with a career record of 481-170, head coach
Jennifer Petrie is now just 19 wins away from 500 at the helm in San Diego.
STIVRINS STAYS HOT
•
Amber Stivrins' 25 kills last Sunday (September 10) at USC were the most by a Torero since November 18, 2021, whenÂ
Grace Frohling racked up 28 in a four-set win at Saint Mary's.
BLACKWELL AND STIVRINS SWEEP WCC WEEKLY AWARDS
•
Amber Stivrins andÂ
Leyla Blackwell were named the WCC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for September 11, 2023, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon (September 11).
• Stivrins, a graduate outside hitter who transferred to USD this season from Georgia, boasted 57 kills and seven service aces in Los Angeles, hitting .376 and averaging 4.75 kills per set.
• The Scottsdale, California native began the tournament with 11 kills and five service aces while hitting .500 against the Red Foxes then added 21 more and another service ace on Saturday, along with hitting at a .514 clip opposite the Aggies. She ended the weekend with 25 kills and a .271 hitting percentage on Sunday against host USC, averaging 6.25 kills per set alongside one last service ace.Â
• Monday afternoon's honor is the first weekly WCC award of her career after being named to the 2023 All-WCC Volleyball Preseason Team in August.
• Blackwell, a senior middle blocker, paced the USD defense at the Trojan Invitational with 18 blocks (one solo) for an average of 1.58 blocks per set. The San Diego, California native totaled five blocks on Friday against Marist, added nine block assists and a solo effort on Saturday against UC Davis, and closed out her weekend with four more block assists on Sunday opposite USC.
• She is now a six-time WCC Defensive Player of the Week winner after earning the honor three times in 2021, twice in 2022, and once in 2023. Blackwell joined Stivrins on the 2023 All-WCC Volleyball Preseason Team last month.
