SAN DIEGO – Sophomore Mia Mack led the way for the San Diego women's tennis program, by taking home the singles title at the UTSA Intercollegiate Championships, hosted at the Hogan Tennis Center.
 
Entering as the No. 8 seed in the event, Mack did not drop a set until the final, breezing through the opening rounds. Joining her was Claudia De Las Heras, who earned her first ranked win of the season in the quarterfinal, defeating San Diego State's No. 116 ranked Andjela Skrobonja.
 
Both made the semifinals, while De Las Heras also reached the semifinals in doubles with her partner Jordyn McBride. Mack was the lone Torero to emerge from the round, reaching the final and edging out Vivian Ovrootsky of Texas, 7-6 (6), 1-6, 6-4.
 
It marked the second straight year with a Torero in the championship game, after De Las Heras reached it last season.
 
The Toreros are back in action beginning on Sept. 30, as they travel to Cary, N.C., for the ITA All-American Championships.
