Pilots Steer Defensive Duel Past the Toreros, 2-0 Friday

SAN DIEGO – Toreros Women's soccer fell 2-0 to Portland on Friday night at Torero Stadium in a hard-fought defensive effort.

In a game with only five combined shots on target, the Pilots took advantage of their chances. On the only shot on goal by either side in the first half, Portland's Aliyah Dockter volleyed in a failed punch-clearance by USD keeper Ilise Medrano in the 16th minute.

The game remained knotted and mostly chance-less until the 83rd minute when Kayla Adams received the ball in the 18, cut inside, and on her next touch put the ball bar-down in the top left corner, far beyond Medrano's reach to ice the game at 2-0.

The Toreros fall to 2-8-4 on the season and 0-5-1 in conference play.
