SAN DIEGO – San Diego Women's Tennis faired well but fell just short of any NCAA Individual Championships bids at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in their hometown, however stacking up several wins.
 
Senior Kailey Evans reached the semifinal for both singles and doubles, with fellow senior Claudia De las Heras. A win away from NCAA singles qualification twice, Evans fell on Monday and in the third place match Tuesday.
 
Freshman Hannah Read went 3-1 in singles play throughout the tournament, including an upset in the consolation bracket. Sophomore Kristina Nordikyan also went 2-1 in singles matches.
 
The Toreros will get another chance to qualify for the Nov. 18-23 NCAA Individual Championships, but first they next stay home for the Torero Tennis Classic, taking place at the Hogan Tennis Center from Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, the third.
