LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Building off some strong momentum to start the new season, the San Diego women's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 WCC) is ready for their second road test of the season as they will face UNLV (3-1, 0-0 Mountain West) on Tuesday night at Cox Pavilion.
USD's feeling good following the team's first road victory of the season in their last game, as they bested Weber State 66-63 at the Dee Events Center. The victory marked the 400th career win in USD head coach Cindy Fisher's career between Wyoming and San Diego.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros enter their third game of the season feeling good after a pair of wins to open the 2024-25 season.
- USD played suffocating defense throughout their win over Weber State as they held the Wildcats to just 34% shooting from the field, and limited them to 26% from beyond the arc.
- Doing it all to help guide her team to victory, Kylie Horstmeyer scored a game-high 15 points on 4-of-7 from the field while also securing five rebounds. Horstmeyer also got it done from the charity stripe as she went a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line including two late makes to put USD ahead for good.
- San Diego also had a pair of strong performances from the twins Hallie Rhodes and Jayden Rhodes. The duo combined to score 16 key points to help the Toreros pick up their second victory of the season.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- Tuesday night's matchup in Sin City will be the 12th ever meeting between the two teams as UNLV has won all 11 of the previous games.

- Leading the way for the Toreros in their previous meeting with San Diego was Courtney Wristen who scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed three boards against UNLV.
- In the second half of the previous game in San Diego, USD was able to build some strong late game momentum as they shot 57% from the field and knocked down three of their four three-point shot attempts.
SCOUTING THE REBELS
- The Rebels are off to a 3-1 start to their season as they've earned victories over LMU, Northern Arizona and Stonehill, while losing their lone road game to Arizona through the first four games.
- Leading the way for UNLV in the early portion of the season is sophomore guard Amarachi Kimpson, who is averaging 13.5 PPG and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 49% from the field to start the new season.
- As a team, the Rebels have done a good job of taking of the basketball as they rank 25th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.41. Defensively, UNLV hasn't been as strong to start the year as opponents have shot 43% from the field against them, and 39% from three-point range.
