Toreros Fight Strong in First Third at No. 22 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – San Diego Women's Soccer fell 5-1 to No. 22 Pepperdine Saturday in the Toreros' final road match of the season. USD were even with their ranked opponents 26 minutes into the match.
 
San Diego's lone goal was a beauty; sophomore midfielder Mikayla Abrenica hit a free kick perfectly hard and low past the wall and Waves keeper into the far corner to tie the game in the 11th minute, her team-leading third of the season. The hosts scored four unanswered from the 26th to the 61st minutes.
 
San Diego goalkeepers recorded six saves in the match. Sophomore Aliya Garrett came on in relief and held the Waves scoreless for the final 25 minutes, notching two saves.
