SAN FRANCISCO — San Diego volleyball (17-9, 12-4 WCC) dropped a 3-2 decision at San Francisco (15-13, 8-8 WCC) on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Dons by a 3-2 margin at War Memorial Gym.
USD won the first set 25-18 before losing the second and third frames by scores of 25-20 and 25-18 as USF took a 2-1 lead. The Toreros tied the match 2-2 with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set and were up 14-13 in the fifth, but eventually suffered a 17-15 defeat as USF rallied to win the match.
Nemo Beach led all players with 15 kills and added five block assists. Both
Isabel Clark (12 kills and 12 digs) and
Anni Evans (50 assists, 14 digs) recorded double-doubles. Evans' career-high 50 assists were the most by a Torero in a game this season and the highest assist total by a USD player in a single match since
Isadora Tercariol also had 50 on October 5, 2023 vs. Santa Clara.
Haylee Stoner hit a team-high .304 with 11 kills alongside four blocks of her own.
Madi Allen recorded a match-high 25 digs, coming within two of her USD career high to pace the Toreros' defensive efforts.
San Diego is back in action on Wednesday afternoon, when it travels to Malibu, California to play Pepperdine. First serve against the Waves at the Firestone Fieldhouse is set for 12 p.m.
