SAN DIEGO – After a thrilling doubles point, the No. 15 San Diego men's tennis program (7-1, 1-0 WCC) cruised to a 7-0 win over Cal Poly (2-3, 0-0 Big West) on Friday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two sides opened the afternoon locked in a tight battle for the doubles point.
- All three matches started off on serve, before Oliver Tarvet and Nikhil Niranjan broke through for a break point.
- Tarvet and Niranjan won their match and Cal Poly earned a win of their own, setting up a tiebreaker for Savriyan Danilov and Stian Klaassen to decide the point.
- The duo found themselves down at the first change of court, but they rallied to win 7-5 and put San Diego up 1-0.
- Singles opened up with a bang, as the Toreros rolled to first set wins on every single court.
- Once again, the Toreros were powered to a quick win behind a pair of wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles from Klaassen and Neo Niedner.
- Lambert Ruland clinched the fourth point in a straight set win, as the remaining Toreros followed suit to ultimately secure a sweep of the Mustangs.
